The risks encountered by public schools are numerous, and in many ways unique. SORSA provides a comprehensive coverage package that is specifically designed for the needs of Ohio K-12 schools.

Primary coverage for property and liability.

  • Property
  • Equipment Breakdown
  • Crime & Employee Dishonesty
  • Cyber Liability
  • General Liability
  • Educator’s Legal Liability
  • Flood & Earthquake
  • Automobile Liability
  • Automobile Physical Damage
  • School Security Risk
  • Garage Keepers

How is SORSA different?

In addition to primary coverage, each member has a $15 million liability limit per occurrence, Cyber Liability and School Security Risk Insurance. These coverages are exclusive to SORSA members and not found elsewhere in the school insurance market.

Does our School Really Need a $15 Million Dollar Limit?

Yes, we believe so and here is why.

An upward trend in multi-million dollar judgements and settlements. We recently conducted a study of recent judgments and out-of-court settlements involving K-12 schools, and the result is disturbing. Sometimes you hear about huge jury awards. Often, however, out-of-court settlements slip under the public radar. Needless to say, whether a judgment or a settlement, a multi-million dollar payment hurts a school district pocketbook the same.

Cyber Liability coverage provides a solution in an ever-changing technological environment.

In the event of a data breach, whether paper or electronic.  What’s covered?

Security and Privacy, Regulatory Action, Event Management and Cyber Extortion.  Each section has a $1M per member aggregate sublimit.

$10M Limit of Liability/all coverage sections combined/all member annual aggregate/ $10,000 retention is applicable to all sections.
